Who we are

The Crooked Penny formed through a shared love of traditional and modern folk songs and an addiction to harmony. We came together in 2023 and started playing festival gigs that summer, including Medicine Festival, Fire in the Mountain and The Land Skills Fair, among others, then paused for a while in 2024 whilst May was off doing a masters degree in animation. (We're very proud to say that her film 'The Eating of an Orange' has been nominated for Best Short at the London Short Film Festival and has also been accepted into Sundance. Go May!)

We'll' be heading into a cosy winter of writing and honing our music, ready to spring with the Spring. New songs and delicious harmonies are brewing which we're really excited to share with you.

We're taking bookings for 2025 so if you'd like us to play at your event then get in touch
