Korowai song

Writer's picture: pearllegayclarkepearllegayclarke

I've just returned from the jungle-swamp of West Papua where I learnt a song or two from the wonderful Korowai people, whose song would ring from the treetops like birds as they worked to build a treehouse.

They are fantastic singers and though the main focus of the trip was to assist my father in documenting the building of a treehouse, I couldn't resist also documenting some of the songs and spending some time with the women learning some of the simpler words.
