We can’t help but get a bit geeky when we get toge We can’t help but get a bit geeky when we get together. Free singing in a 5 count rhythm whilst preparing for our circle singing session in Bristol in a couple of weeks. I am still amazed by how easily this way of singing helps us drop in and regulate, and co-regulate together. We come away feeling so nurtured, grounded and loved up with our beautiful singing pals. Tomorrow I’ll be sharing a singing workshop in the Tomorrow I’ll be sharing a singing workshop in the woods alongside @tara.mexis and @brigiterowan as part of @theredhearth Festival, just before the closing ceremony. We’ll be exploring simple, soulful songs together in the cool of the woods, an invitation to connect through voice, nature, and community. No singing experience is needed, just a willingness to join in. **Songs for the Hearth** 🌿 27th June 🕑 2–4pm 📍 Sladebank Woods, Summer Crescent, Stroud Come and sing with us.
High vibes for our last session before the summer High vibes for our last session before the summer break! I love that moment when the beat drops and suddenly everyone is moving, smiling, and completely in the music. This week we journeyed through a whole spectrum of emotions, from soft and contemplative to vibrant and full of energy. What a beautiful way to round off the term. We’ll be taking a pause through July and August, but we’ll be back in September for more singing and connection. In the meantime, there will almost certainly be a few impromptu gatherings over the summer. Thank you to everyone who braved the heat and made the trek across the Heavens, arriving hot, sweaty, and ready to sing. I feel incredibly lucky to call you my community. We shared snacks, toasted marshmallows, sang many songs, and enjoyed a reading from *Foxlowe* by choir member Eleanor Wasserberg. It was a beautiful afternoon of music, friendship, and celebration. What a busy weekend! Sunrise on Beltane morning, What a busy weekend! Sunrise on Beltane morning, followed by opening the @hawkwood_cft May Day Festival with our set of Summer Songs. Here we are warming up by the spring under the beautiful ancient sycamore tree, singing Nightingales by Ian Heywood. Thank you to @tara.mexis for reminding me of the song. One of our choir members even went to hear the lone male nightingale in Gloucestershire the following evening. And finally, some photos of us performing, with me leading the choir somewhat armless after my little one needed a nap and fell asleep on my chest halfway through the set. He absolutely loved all the music and festivities. A glorious morning of welcoming the May-O on the c A glorious morning of welcoming the May-O on the common with @miserdenmorris and @boss.morris. It’s my absolute pleasure to be out and about singing with this joyful and willing rabble, made up of members from Stroud Folk Choir, Sing Ahoy and Harmony Tree. Thanks to @alexmerryart for welcoming us into the gathering, the @the_prince_albert for hosting us for breakfast butties and more songs afterwards (get up there for the beer festival this weekend), and thanks to @simonpic78 for the fabulous photos! There was a joyful moment when the choir were singing Cuckoo by Benjamin Britten, made famous by @cosmosheldrake and I glanced up and caught his eye. Such a sparkly synchronous morning.
Exciting news! Sing Ahoy! will be singing in the p Exciting news! Sing Ahoy! will be singing in the pub—sharing shanties and folk songs that are easy to join in with. We’ll even teach you the choruses so you can sing along. These sessions have been such a highlight for us in the past, and we’d love to see you there for another joyful sing. It’s free to attend, but please do support the pub by buying a pint from the bar! While I’ve been on maternity leave this year, my wonderful friends @brigiterowan and @tara.mexis have been leading the group. They’ve done a fantastic job, and we’re hoping they’ll both be able to join us for this one. See you there!
And that’s a wrap for the 2025 Autumn Singing Retr And that’s a wrap for the 2025 Autumn Singing Retreat. Another glorious weekend of community coming together in scrumptious harmony, new friends and old. This was possibly the most ambitious thing I’ve tried to do with a baby so far, both with holding space and with getting back to composing some arrangements. Seeing them brought to life by 40 singers in such a reverberant space was such a joy. It’s not been so easy for me to learn and retain harmonies lately, let alone compose. Baby brain really is a thing! The weekend wouldn’t have been at all possible without my wonderful Mum, who supported me in so many ways, most notably with baby duty. She even got him to fall asleep and do a full nap in the buggy for the first time! Thank you Mum! This week has been mostly about rest and napping when the baby naps! Meet Pearl, the face behind #WithOneVoiceUK, and t Meet Pearl, the face behind #WithOneVoiceUK, and the facilitator of this year's Autumnal Singing Retreat! 🍂 An experienced singer, choir leader, and vocal improviser, Pearl is dedicated to helping people find themselves through the magic of music and singing. Pearl has spent the last few years studying Collaborative Vocal Improvisation: a form of singing renowned for its ability to connect people with one another through the creativity of music. In addition to this she's also a member of the folk trio @thecrookedpenny , singing beautiful folk-inspired melodies to crowds across the South-West.
